Post subject: Seth Thomas Regulator #2 movement
I am an amateur Horologist and have just aquired an oak Seth Thomas Regulator #2.
The case has been painted in white enamel quite some time ago, and the inside of the case was painted bright red.
There is some of the original label on the bottom of the case, which was painted over in red paint.
It has NO. 101-M.P. 69093 on the top left and the rest is all in block lettering - not script : Manufactured by Seth Thomas Company etc.
The border is a simple line.
The dial was also repainted with crude numbers in red and two ducks on the dial.
I have removed the newer paint from the dial and it appears as though the original dial was sraped off before re-painting.
When was the #77B trapezoid movement first used?
The case itself (NOT including the Oak dial surround), measures 34"; is this the correct way of measuring the clock?
I see some are 34" and some 36 1/2"
Where can I find an image of a correct dial that I can copy?
I understand that there were a few different dials; some with Arabic, some Roman, and some with or without the Seth Thomas makers name.
I would like to restore the dial, but I am not sure what year this clock is.
Any help will be much appreciated.
