Have a Seth Thomas ships clock froom the 40's and saw the actual clock on a Twilight Zone episode !! The movement is mechanical German and works great. The case is some kind of Bakelite or something.
Are these clocks rare or common ? I saw one on e-bay listed for $900 -
The Twilight Zone episode sparked my interest in the clock, which I never thought of much for the last 30 years.

These clocks were used on Naval ships during WW II. Yes, the cases are made of Bakelit. Their movements are spring wound and contain a balance wheel escapement.
They are not that rare. And, $900 is too high a price. Even for one in mint condition. Current, good running Naval clocks from that era should be priced from $200-$300, or lower depending on contition.
