firstly sorry for the ignorance as im am completly in the dark about grandfather clocks. I've have purchased a longcase grandfather clock by the clock makers Smallcombe. I no know nothing about this company apart from that were a mail order company that closed down in 2008 so was just looking for some background on the quality of their clocks. My clock dates from 1991 and is supposed to be limited edition with moon phase. Any feedback about my clock would be most appreciated.

more than likely smallcombe built the cases, and purchased movements to go into them. I would look at the back plate of the movement for any marking's for a mfg.

Have you asked the people who took over the business, supposibly former employees work their ? http://www.ontimeclockservices.co.uk/

Firstly thankyou for your swift reply. You are absolutely correct I have checked the back of the case and it is a hermle 1171-850 (b). Is this a respectable movement?
