Post subject: Staiger All Metal Open Wall Clock
I have a Staiger Wall Clock that I wold like to get serviced and know more information about. It was bought in St. Georges, GDR in 1994-5. I picked it up in the Black Forest and love the clock. It is the only one of it's kind I have seen. It mounts on a wall and is entirely open so that you can see the gears. The actual frame is all cast and the gear mechanism is all machined metal. I would appreciate any info or experience that someone is willing to share. Also, if this is the wrong forum please share info on other forums. Thanks and God bless, Rich.

The one you have have is probably a lantern or skeleton type clock.
I bet it has longish pendulum and strikes a bell on the hour when passing the number 12 and has one weight?
I don't know when it was made but probably not antique. A lot of these are around ... you just never come across them. Staiger, i believe is a German company and Hermle is a German company that make still make this type of clock. Unfortunately the chinese have jumped on the bandwagon and made a cheap version too. you can tell the difference by looking for a name on the mechanism - the chinese don't have one!
