Hello changing over my GrandFather Clock to a Battery Movement with:

#19012 - Pendulum Drive Unit
#12001 - Tubular Chime Quartz Movements

Because I am using the Pendulum Unit..... I don't need the pendulum
on the movement. However the plastic part for the pendulum moves
....and with NO weight on it makes a lot of noise!!!! Is it ok to tape down
the plastic part to stop it (without hurting the movement)?????

Thanks Eric

you could also super glue it for a permanent fix, the pendulum on a battery movement just swings by motion.

Quartz movements should have a pin or clip off to one side on the back of the movement. The pendulum leader is either placed over the pin (or clipped in place) to make it stationary. On some movements, the clip is actually attached to the leader itself (and clips onto a pin on one side of the movement rear).

It should not be necessary to tape or glue the leader stationary - but it also should not be a problem if you were forced to do so as a last resort. Typically with battery operated movements, the pendulum has no bearing on time-keeping. In this manner, securing the leader should have no negative effect on the movement itself.
