I was setting several clocks last night for the saving time, my Seth Thomas movement 403-001 seemed tight when I turned the hands back, and now the hands are not moving, yet it is ticking. Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

you should never turn the hands backwards, or it could damage the movement

Yes - I have always subscribed to the school of thought that you can not move mechanical hands backwards. At least, I make it a rule not to (just to be on the safe side). Always advance the hand (11 hours if it does not have automatic night silence; 23 hours if it does). Shut off the chimes prior to moving the hands. If you can not, make certain to pause everytime the movement chimes and allow it to complete the chime cycle before advancing the hand.

You might want to have your movement looked at. It could be that you did some possible damage rotating the hands backwards.

Thanks, I followed the manual saying it was ok, but I have heard it should not be done. All my other clocks are ok, but I will now either stop and wait the hour, or move forward.
