This clock was given to my Great, Great Grandfather as payment by a German Earl for work he had done for him.
Along with the clock he was given a set of matching furniture.
THe clock was given to my parents as a wedding gift after WWII. My Mom was the 1st US/German warbride of WWII when she married my Dad, a US tank commander who landed June 6th on Omaha Beach on h.i.s. birthday.

There was matching base stand that went with the clock but unfortunately my parents were for some reason unable to bring that to the states.

The clock worked when I was a youngster back in the 60's, but stopped once and my Mom had it fixed sometime in a 70's.
It stopped again in the late 80's or early 90's and has not been running since then.

My Mom passed away this past October and left me h.e.r. estate. I moved back home and I really would like to get the clock working again when I can find a reputable clockmaker. The one that had fixed it before has retired and is not in condition to work on them anymore. H.i.s son still has his buisness, but is not a clockmaker and recommend that I find a good one.
I would really also like to find out what I can about this clocks history or manufaturer but it has no markings on it that I could find.

Your clock appears to be from the late Victorian or art nouveau period judging from the open well case design. The movement is a type that was copied many times by a number of German and Austrian manufacturers from the late 1800's until after WWI. It appears to be an 8 day weight wound, hour/half hour strike.
It is possible that there may be some information stamped into the brass on the back of the movement itself which could identify the maker.

I have an article from a nawcc bulletin from the 1970's which identifies all the German makers by pictures from the back of German clock movements. If you could e-mail me a picture of the back of the movement, I may be able to tell who the maker was and when it was made. I am: Wilburn Walker wilburno@suddenlink.net

It's been almost two years, but I finally got around to removing the movement.
Can anyone still help me identify this clock? Thanks.
