Post subject: Update on Ridgeway Urgos 5-tube Chime Movement
Hi,
I took the mechanism out this morning to thoroughly clean and oil the case on the inside and out and found a sticker on the inside of the face plate which was not visible before I removed the mechanism. It is a facotry sticker from Ridgeway with this information: Model Number 164, Serial Number 5234, and Mechanism UT (which I now assume represents the Urgos Tubular movement). Can this sticker information be more helpful in precisely dating the clock, as I am certain it will require a new suspension spring, and I assume they come in many sizes/shapes. Thanks. I'm sure I will have a certified clock tech come and clean and work on it, but I am getting itno this stuff myself now and find it quite interesting. Thanks..

Post subject: Ridgeway/Urgos
The early number for the Urgos chain drive 5 tube movement was UW3/18. In late production the model number was changed to UW03102.
The only variation in the suspension spring for this model is whether it has a stick pendulum or a lyre pendulum. A slightly more rugged suspension spring was recommended if a lyre pendulum with 10 1/2 disk was installed, otherwise the original Urgos suspension spring was satisfactory for all other pendulums used with this movement.
The model and serial numbers on the sticker found inside the case are Ridgeway factory numbers only.
