Post subject: Urgos movement
I have a grandmother mantel clock with an urgos movement. The movement is a westminister chime. What would be the best replacement.

Unfortunately, there is no standard as far as keywinds are concerned on a mechanical movement. This means that you may have to replace the clock face if you replace the movement. Can the original Urgos movement you have possibly be repaired? Might be worth looking into.
If not, then you could begin to look at alternate movements. I am not certain if Urgos is still manufactured, but other manufacturer movements may work. You will want to get a good idea of your interior case depth, width, and height - the area which will need to accommodate the movement. From there, you can look at overall movement dimensions to see if any would apply. Once you pin-point a movement that could work (along with any features that you may desire), you can start to look at specific dimensions (as well as what other changes might be required... Ex: New clock face, etc).
Another option is to replace the movement with a quartz (battery-operated) movement. This option would more than likely allow you to keep the existing clock face.
