Behind the dial, on the second hand spindle is a cog the is moved round by a crescent shaped piece operated by the pendulum, this engages with the the teeth on the cog and rotates the cog one tooth at a time.,
My clock has started to jam on these teeth., only running a few secdonds each time I free it up .Can anyone pleasetell me what has gone wrong ad what to do. thanks.
ps clock is about 100 years old..

this sounds like the escapement wheel, sounds like a bushing is worn, something is bent, or the clock may need a cleaning

JUST LIKE TO ADD - DON'T FREE THE CLOCK ANYMORE.
to keep starting it and making it jam up will do more damage!!!
Have it looked at because the escape wheel teeth are now probably bent and it will need a service as said.
a nice clock well worth having fixed.
