Post subject: wanting to build the clock movement
Greetings, I have been trying to find a kit where I can actually build the clock movement from the ground up. Does anything like that exist? I love to tinker and starting from scratch with all the loose gears etc would be a blast. Thanks for any suggestions!

There are not a lot of movement kits out there that I have seen. You can, however, find wooden gear clock kits avilable. Most of these kits are composed of Baltic Birch plywood and MDF, and all wood parts will typically be laser cut for optimal precision.
There are wooden gear clock plans available. These would require you to create/machine your own wood gear clock. For example: Merritts Antiques offers a plan to re-create the original wooden movement featured in Eli Terry clocks prior to the turn of the 20th century. There are other plans out there as well. Note that gear clock plans are not necessarily for the novice woodworker (as gear cutting/shaping requires some detailed precision work).
You can refine your search to look for "Wooden Gear Clocks" & "Wooden Clock Movement Plans". Likewise, these search parameters may also yield results for kits (if you add the word "kits" to either and omit the word "plans").
