I acquired my grandparents clock from my 83 yr old aunt. Hung clock reinstalled pendulum, seemed to run great. When I tried to wind clock after it stopped (approximately 5 days). I couldn't get the clock to continue to run. Thought I overwound the springs. I cycled the quarter hour, half-hour , 3.4 hour and hour to let it strike. I did this several times and finally seemed to get it running again. I assume this clock has an 8 day movement. What is the proper way to wind it. How many turns before it's fully wound. any help is greatly appreciated. I have been told my grandparents bought this clock for their new home in 1958 when I was two years old. The clock has white markings on back 27/01 53 and 61011 . I don't have any paperwork or information on operation or care of this clock. I have been told it could be wound for chime and hour striking or for each one individually. Thanks in advance for any help. Ben Confused

Ben clocks cannot be overwound.
As said this clock stopped running as most likely needs a clean and oil.
