can anyone help me with a wooden clock I purchased in an antique shop?
It is made all out of wood even the gears, etc., on the back is stamped: HELC, west germany, unadjusted. It has to leaded weight that I believe hang on an notched arm above the dial face. I do not know what makes run. It woul appear that there should be some additional weights used like a cuckoo clock. eitherway, I believe something is missing. I have seen these advertised in catalogs but I can't remember where. I am awere this clock IS NOT AN ANTIQUE. HELP.

these are the foliot type clocks, all about the same. Here is a link to a picture of what one looks like.

On each end of the long arm is a small weight to adjust the timing, also a weight hangs below the clock as well.

another thread on restoring one.
