Post subject: Woodworking Contractor?
Hey what do you guys think about having a professional contractor make the wood for a clock? Have you ever heard about myhammer.com/ ? Do you think it is necessary to contract someone for this or is it not so hard to make the wood for a clock yourself?

I suppose that some people (lacking necessary machinery and/or woodworking skills) might seek to have someone machine their wood parts for them. It is exactly for this reason that Klockit offers most of their products in a kit form (which would include all pre-machined wood parts, ready to be assembled). I think, however, the contractor option could get expensive (excluding wood costs). To be able to get a decent price for pre-machined wood parts, the contractor would probably have some sort of muinimum purchase/quantity requirement (as tooling and set-up alone would be very time consuming to make parts for only one clock). Just some thoughts...

Thanks for the info I was thinking about a more custom clock though. I will make some request some time later and see what the prices are.

depends on what type of custom clock you want built. I would look around for a furniture maker, a contractor is not going to give you a quality built clock.
