Post subject: Would like to know about our clock.
My wife inherited a chime clock that her mom got from her mom who got it from her mom. On the top of the front of the dial it says "Cowans" and underneath that it says "Airdrie". At the bottom of the dial it says "Manuf [symbol of some kind] in Wurttemberg". I looked all over the clock for any sort of informational plate of some kind, but I found no other writing. Does anyone know anything about this clock (time period, manufacturer, etc.)? I scoured the internet, but I found no mention of "Cowans".

Cowans would have been the retailer- Airdrie is a place in Scotland.
Manufactured in Wurttemburg which is in Germany.
Sounds like it's possibly about 1920's.
There are lots of clocks around with german made movements inside which was quite common. They were a better quality than the s**t produced today so hang on to it.
Often they will cost more than the face value to service/repair but well worth it if you can afford to. Otherwise just keep as it will go up value slowly.
