Two questions, first, this clock has two weights that run it and it has a small pendalum. It is a touch slow so does the pendalum control the speed as in other clocks. And the second question, when those two weights get low, do I hold the weight in one hand and pull the chain back up or is there something else here I don't know about? Thanks for the help.

Is this is a Dutch wall clock with the horse and rider pendulum and the brass pear shaped weights? The horse and rider pendulum bob controls the speed the same as a disk pendulum would. Raising it makes the clock run faster and lowering it does the opposite.
Typically, winding the clock by pulling up the chains gently and raising the weights is standard procedure. Some feel that by taking the pressure off the weight while winding minimizes wear and tear on the arbors and pivots. I can't argue with that.

Thanks so much. I just got this clock along with a couple of others. Don't know much about clocks anyway and nothing about this one. It came with chains all the way up and started working once I put the weights on. I thought the little horse was the way to adjust speed. As heavy as it is I haven't messed with it at all. I would hate to mess it up. Thanks again.
