Post subject: Youngstown 12888 movement
This may sound dumb however I have the above movemnet in a clock assembly that seems to have given up... I would like to replace it however am having trouble getting the movment out of the clock case. Is this a snap in assembly? It appears to have ears on each side however when opening them up the movement isnt coming out. I would like not to break the case. Is there an assembly drawing for this thing.
I know this is an old post but it showed up on the first page of a Google search looking for the Youngtown Quartz 12888 movement. I have found that a Quartex Q84P movement from Klockit is almost an exact replacement. The bushing heights are correct. The locking tabs are at the correct location. I found that the minute hand spindle was slightly larger but I was able to drill out the hands that fit the Youngtown with a #29 drill and the second hand can be carefully drilled with a pin vise and a #65 drill bit. Of course if the hands from Klockit are to your liking than you have a suitable replacemnt without drilling.
Also note that hands from Klockit are free with purchase of a movement (so you should not be required to drill your existing clock hands - just select a replacement set of hands that is similar or to your liking)...

I would like to know where I can buy the Youngtown Quartz 12888 movement, I would like to buy 4 of them so that I have a couple extra when they break.
I understand that the Quartex Q84P is a good replacement, but would perfer to get the 12888.
Also, is there an easy way to take the origional out.
Please email paul@yvn.com if you have any answers to the above concerns.

Quartz movements are very versitle - you should not need the exact replacement - there should be a few movements available that would work for you just as well. That being said, you are also welcome to continue to search for the Youngtown movement.
